lots of "new"s

Soooo, Greyson and Connor are 6.5 months old now! Just a few brags about Grey--this week he has [almost] mastered using the walker--he can go forward super fast, can turn around, and usually back up...he just gets stuck in random places throughout the house. He has started to actually crawl instead of scoot on his belly! He is getting crazy good at pulling himself up onto everything already, just has a hard time getting back down most of the time. Aaand, he can now go from crawling to sitting all by himself. I am so proud of my little guy, he is such a fast learner!

Connor isn't quite there yet, but I'm sure he will be soon! He's getting a little better at scooting on his belly. He did sit up by himself by using my leg for support today, so not all by himself, but it's a start! Poor Connor must be teething really bad [though, I can't see a tooth yet] because he hasn't been his normal happy, laid-back self lately. He has also been throwing HUGE tantrums that I didn't even know could come out of a 6 month old. I'm hoping he gets over this quickly because I want my Connor back!

Big brother Dallas is coming out in a couple weeks and hasn't gotten to meet them yet. I am so excited to see all 3 boys together. Even though they have a huge age gap, I hope they can still find ways to brother it up together!

Beach Time!

First and foremost--as most of you know we have a slow mover on our hands! Greyson started army crawling already right when he turned 6 months old! He is so inquisitive and wants to know what everything is. He doesn't move very fast or far yet, but he's well on his way. Connor isn't too far behind him, but he's happy just lounging around for now!

We took them to Santa Cruz with our friends: Jessica & Danny, Casie & Tyler and their little guy Ryan. This was the farthest we've traveled with the boys so we didn't know how the day would go. Since my children are among the whitest babies in the world we had to find a spot with shade...without having a huge umbrella we reluctantly had to settle behind Lifeguard Stand #4 in the little bit of shade that it gave. It was a bit difficult to try and keep the boys' hands out of the sand because even with a big blanket that stuff is very sneaky and gets all over the place. Once Ryan got there (and after a quick nap for a baby and Daddy) we took the 3 boys to the ocean! All 3 got to experience the water at the same time with a skillful simultaneous baby feet dunk as the waves rushed in. Connor and Greyson started crying immediately, while their water friendly companion didn't even blink an eye. Ryan played in the water for a few minutes without a single complaint. One dunk in the water was more than enough for my guys...I don't blame them, that water is freezing!

The rest of the afternoon was spent lounging in the slightly decreasing shade from stand #4 and playing Catch Phrase with everyone. I discovered that I am not the greatest describer of random words, but it was fun! We decided to leave the beach early because everyone else was going out to dinner and I knew the boys wouldn't last that long. After a 30 minute nap on the way home, Connor decided he didn't wanna be in his car seat any more and decided to scream the entire way home. We made a much needed pit stop at a Babies R Us so the boys could play for awhile (and to avoid early holiday traffic). After happily playing with all the fun things, it was back in the car for 45 more minutes, all of which Connor screamed for. Greyson even joined in for the last 30 minutes because he figured one crying baby just isn't enough!

The day was fun, the car ride home was terrible, and I got a fantastic sunburn that will remain with me for a few days.

baby update!

So it's been a while since I blogged it up. Still don't know if I'm into it or not! I was trying to make it clever, more about random things that happen when one has twins...but I've found that my life isn't very exciting and we don't do enough stuff yet to accomplish that. Sooo, I'll give that dream up and just use this to document the exciting lives of Greyson and Connor!

They are doing big things over here these days. Both boys can sit up unassisted for a little bit...They still resemble Weebles, but they are getting pretty strong! Greyson can get up on his hands and knees and rocks back and forth, he just needs to figure out how to move from there! I'm sure by a few more weeks I'll have an early crawler on my hands--good thing the house was already baby-proofed before we moved in! Connor is not quite where Greyson is mobility wise, but he's not far behind! He's our laid back guy who'd rather just lay there and talk than worry about getting his knees red and carpet-burned!

In a few days they will be 6 months old already! I really cannot believe that they are that "old" now! They are just now starting to want to play with each other. Connor loves to look at Grey and squeal to him. When they both are on the floor together I have to referee already and pull them off of each other and try to watch out for ear pulling and eye gouging. It's gonna be tough when they really start to move!

We tried sippy cups just out of curiosity. Not ready for those yet. Both boys tried so hard to figure them out and desperately wanted the watered down apple juice that was inside, but they don't know how to hold bottles or cups yet for themselves. They need to get on that skill! Mommy will love it once they can hold their own bottles!

I can't wait for them to try swimming, camping, and to meet their big brother Dallas this summer!

5 montharoonies

So, my little boys are 5 months old already! I know every parent says "they grow up so fast" but it's the truth! I can't believe how much they've grown in these past months-- They've gone from 6 pounds to 13, which isn't very big in baby land, but it's big to me. They absolutely cannot wait until they can start moving. They are desperately trying to crawl or scoot around, but just aren't strong enough and that makes them mad! I have a feeling I'm going to have early crawlers and walkers on my hands in the next few months. They aren't liking to snuggle with me much these days and that makes me a little sad :( We used to snuggle all day long! Oh well, there's always Nilla around for that ;)

I had to take the boys to Target with me the other day for an emergency wipe run. I haven't really taken them out to a store like that by myself because their car seats are so big I can't fit anything into the cart with them in there. And as cool as it looks, I don't feel like being one of those super multiples moms who push their stroller with one hand and haul a shopping cart behind them with the other. So, for this wipe run I decided to strap Greyson in my front carrier and let Connor ride in the shopping cart. This made enough room for my wipes and a few extras! I'm sure I looked amazing with Grey riding around and Connor snoozing away in the shopping cart. However, this was my first outing where I did not get any "twinarazzi" [thanks Nancy for the awesome word!] hounding me. It was secretly pleasing, but I also was a little shocked at my lack of annoying comments. I almost missed the "ooo are those twins" ringing in my ears. I'm sure my lack of attention was just a fluke since it was early in the morning. We all know that the twinarazzi aren't early risers. Anyways, I can't wait until the boys can sit up alone without their car seats so I don't have to look like a total dweeb as I shop.

Stir Crazy

We have lived in our new house for 2 weeks now. I love all the extra space and actually having something nice for once in my life. All our past houses weren't necessarily bad, just not necessarily nice either. I can actually move around in my kitchen now without bumping into anything when I extend my arms. Needless to say, I am loving it here and hope we can stick around in it for a while...
However, the past two weeks have been very long. I pretty much couldn't help Nate do anything at the old house because I had to hang out here with the babies. Between Nate working long days and not having unlimited help, the move went much slower than we planned. In his free time he has been working on getting our endless supply of junk over to our new house so I have been stuck inside with the babies.. and only the babies. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love spending time with them, but I have almost felt like a single mother raising these guys for the past few weeks since Nate has been a little scarce. And it's tough! I'm ready for Nate to be here with us in the evenings and on the weekends already, and I'm sure he's more than ready for it too. Though, Grey and Connor have become my new best friends. We spend every waking minute together and I am learning so much about them. Sometimes they get pretty grumpy, but the second I see them smile or laugh at me it makes me forget about the grumpies. All our time together is turning them into the worst mama's boys, which secretly makes me happy. Those little guys are my absolute most favorite things in this world :)
I have barely gone out in public the past two weeks and I was starting to get a little stir crazy. Thankfully, I went out to lunch with Jessica, Melisa, and Ashley. We hadn't seen Ashley in about a year since she moved to Georgia so it was great to catch up with her. It was also great to get out of the house for a while!
After tomorrow we will be completely done with the other house and it will be glorious to have my husband back :)

Pack rats

So, after 4 years of living in a house that is way too small for us and all our junk we are finally moving on up. Nate and I have wanted to move for a while now, but lacked the motivation to do anything about it. Now with two tiny babies who are showing signs of desperately wanting to be on the move we figured it was time!

Nate and I saw a great house for rent a few weeks ago. The babies and I went to go look at it. I had an appointment to view the house at 3:30 one day...I don't do these types of things often obviously and now I know why. I got there a couple minutes before 3:30 and saw no other vehicles around. I for some reason figured the Realtor was running late so I waited in my car. Connor decided he didn't like being in his car seat so we were playing in the drivers seat while Grey slept away. 15 minutes later and still no signs of her I got the bright idea to go knock on the door. To my stupidity, she had been in there all along. This is why I don't do things on my own. I'm probably the only person alive who wouldn't go knock on the door in the first place. For all I knew the Realtor could have flown a jet pack to work that day and left her car at home.
Anyways, the house was great. We put in an application and I talked her into lowering the price by 200 bucks! I really didn't think we would get in that house, but she called and said we were good to go!

This whole back story is leading up to my main point. We're moving. We have A LOT of stuff. We also have two tiny babies who never seem to want to be without us for longer than 10 minutes. Therefore packing is not going as speedy as I'd like. Not to mention, we have accumulated tons of garbage...well, mostly just stuff that doesn't work or we have no need to keep. There will have to be at least 3 dump runs in our near future. And why are dumpsters so dang expensive!? Hopefully we can get everything done and the house cleaned over the next 2.5 weeks! I don't have much faith in that, but it will have to get done somehow!

On a brighter side, I'm stoked to move into a nice place where the boys have room to play. I'm also stoked that there is a park right across the street and an elementary school around the corner. If the boys grew up in our current house I'm pretty sure they'd be dealing drugs to Mexicans by Kindergarten.

Target troubles

I don't get much time without the babies. My nightly showers are glorious times for me! That's about the only time of day that I get to just relax [and I'm a big fan of scalding hot water]. I also enjoy going to Target a couple times a week to get the necessaries, which is usually baby related! Anyways, as I was out on one of my Target adventures tonight [to get baby things, amongst others..] I came across this strange lady.

As I roamed the aisles I saw this very homely looking woman along with her equally as homely mother. This woman had a very nice Baby Bjorn baby carrier strapped to her front...with no baby in it. I glanced around thinking maybe a friend was holding a tiny infant somewhere, but there was no little baby to be seen anywhere. Then I thought, ok she must be trying it on for size...getting a good feel for it by wearing it through all the wonder that is the baby section. However, I saw her throughout the store with the lonely Baby Bjorn still intact. I got to thinking if she was pregnant and just couldn't wait for her baby's arrival. Or perhaps she had a baby at home, but wanted to feel like it was right there with her at all times. Or, she could of had separation anxiety from her pregnant belly, who knows. I was half surprised to find the carrier empty. If I were her experiencing one of those issues I would have at least put a small dog in the carrier or maybe a baby doll if I were feeling extra spunky.

She had to have some sort of reason for sporting the carrier throughout Target, but I guess I'll never know the true reason. What I do know though is that she must have been blind... because while I was trying to make a very important decision on which baby spoons to purchase she decided she too had to look at baby spoons. Mind you, the baby spoon section is about this (__________) big. Obviously I had a baby by looking at my items in the cart. And it was apparent that I had a very big spoon mission on hand-- but her and her mother stood about 2 inches away from me and had to talk about the pros and cons of every single package of tiny spoons to each other. Not listening to anything they had to say I stood my ground and made my decision. Just as I turned away they decided they too were done crowding the spoon section and walked away with no spoons in hand. Needless to say, my Target venture was a little bit of a let down with this baby faker. Why they couldn't wait 3 minutes for me to wander away, I just don't know.

Moral of the story: Don't ruin my Target time while wearing an empty Baby Bjorn.
